CELEBRATE YEAR OF THE PIG AT GALLERIA DALLAS’ CHINESE NEW YEAR LANTERN FESTIVAL

The celebration of Chinese New Year officially begins on February 5 and runs through February 19.  Galleria Dallas is beginning their celebration early with an art installation of 250 enormous Chinese lanterns over the shopping center’s iconic ice skating rink to celebrate the Year of the Pig.  The beautiful lantern art installation, Galleria Lantern Festival, will complete installation February 8 and will remain on display through Thursday, February 28.

In celebration of the installation and of Chinese New Year, Galleria Dallas will host the Phap Quang Lion Dance Team at 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 16.

As this is the Year of the Pig, the Galleria Ice Skating Center will be illuminated by whimsical pig illustrations created for the event. In Chinese culture, the pig is a sign of wealth and prosperity.

“Dallas is such a multicultural city,” explained Galleria Dallas Director of Marketing Martha Hinojosa.  “Galleria Dallas is excited to share a small part of Chinese culture this year.  We’re committed to celebrating our diverse, international visitor base with cultural events each year.”
